Teen Titans #85 Review

Teen Titans #85 resumes where the last issue left off.

M’gann warns the scientists of the impending doom to befall the Titans, however they are unable to do anything without the aid of Bombshell and Aquagirl, whom fell under attack by a sea creature and thus lost communication. M’gann is left sitting duck, but would not succumb and is determined to find a way.

Meanwhile, with Static left unconscious due to a surge of energy, the Titans continue to trek throuh the Wylde’s world with Superboy leading the way after he picked up a trace on Raven. During the trek, they battle a tree monster they easily defeat with their combined efforts. They continue their search for Raven, with Static having regained conciousness by now. Upon reaching an range of rocky mountains, Superboy claims Raven is being kept inside and the Titans proceed to head into the mountains. Suddenly, a violent volcanic blast distraughts and seperates the Titans. Superboy and Cassie are lost within the volcanic fire, Gar plummets down a hole, Static is in midst of falling into a river of lava and Kid Flash is trapped under the a mass of rocks. Each Titan is left in a peril situation.

Back at Titan’s Tower, the scientist resort to last meassures as they hand M’gann a helmet, a contraption to let her connect to the Wylde’s world, though with consequences if they procedure does not go accordingly. M’gann wears the helmet and just when the device seemed to be functioning well, the Wylde speaks out through M’gann’s body, leaving an omnious message for the scientists.

Overall, an mediocre issue. By this point, Henderson’s inssitence of Gar’s obsession with Raven has become a bored. Making the arrival of the new writer later this year all the more something to look forward too.

What our Member’s said;

KingoftheBeast: The issue was still far from anything I’d consider buying, but it was infact leaps and bounds better than what we’ve seen from her so far. Her pacing still sufferes as the action and peacful mometns don’t balance and blend well, and her dialouge is still strained were every carachter basically talks the same as everyone else in the book (frankly the only character who seems to have their own distinct voice is Bombshell)
