JT Krul Signs DC Exclusive

This afternoon, DC announced that JT Krul – writer of Green Arrow and soon to be writer of Teen Titans – has signed an exclusive with DC. They did not give details on how long the contract will be for, however. This isn’t a shocking move, as DC seems to be positioning Krul to be a big deal there and I doubt they’d want to risk putting the effort in only for the competition to swoop in with a lucrative offer. Most of DC’s more prominent creators are also under exclusives.

On top of this, DC revealed the variant covers for the first three issues of Kruls run on Teen Titans.

I’d made mention before on the forums – and on here too, I think – that DC’s put an exceptional amount of talent on variants for the start of JT Kruls run on Teen Titans. Variants seem to be all over the place these days, but you don’t usually see them on a title DC isn’t putting their weight behind, much less one no one really cares about. Teen Titans hasn’t received many in the past couple years, aside from a lone Jim Lee variant around when Superboy rejoined the team.

So now, suddenly, Teen Titans is getting variants again. Not by just anyone either. We’re talking variants by big name artists like Frank Quitely, Adam Hughes and Karl Kerschl. If you’re not familiar with them, let me assure you, they’re a pretty big deal as far as comic artists go.

A sign DC is taking Teen Titans seriously again?

Regardless of the reason, DC revealed all three in the same post. Check ‘em out.

Adam Hughes

Frank Quitely

(Note: This one’s probably not the final piece. Quitely covers usually get more touch-ups past this point)

Karl Kerschl
