Teen Titans #93 Review
Issue #93 marks the beginning of a new arc as Tim Drake rejoins the team as Red Robin and Solstice is officially introduced.
The issue starts off with Tim musing over the family bond and tension amongst the Teen Titans (in which he notes the tension between Gar and Raven, Conner and Cassie and Rose’s typical hostile attitude) as the team makes their way to answer an urgent call from Cassie’s mother in Mohenjo-Daro.
Upon arrival, Cassie reunites with Kiran a.k.a Solstice (having first met in Wonder Girl #1) and introduces her to the Titans. Raven immediately takes note of Solstice strong aura of light which, though radiant, is consequently hazardous to Raven.
Solstice explains the situation of her missing parents. Kid Flash offers to scout the area though is unable to find Solstice parents or any clues within a 100 mile radius. Red Robin orders the team to split up. Conner, partnered with Tim, asks for him to let Cassie take the lead as she has been the one leading the team thus far. Tim reveals Cassie had in fact asked Tim to take over, allowing her time for herself. Tim assumed Conner had known.
Their conversation is cut short when they discover a lone crouching woman. They approach her but it is revealed to be demonic creature. The creature attacks Tim and Conner, showing great strength. Kid Flash and Rose rush over to help but neither the speedster’s speed or Rose’s blade deal any damage to the creature. Gar’s efforts prove fruitless as well until Solstice shows up and shoots a bright beam at the creature. It successfully impairs the creature as it runs off. The creature then comes across Raven, Cassie and Cassie’s mother and immediately grabs Cassie’s mom. Raven attempts to save her but upon touching the creature she is overwhelmed by its darkness.
The creature prepares to escape but Cassie holds onto her mother. This does not phase the creature and it vanishes into light with Cassie and her mother.
Solstice reveals the creature to be named Tataka, a demon.
Cassie finds herself in an unknown location and is tackled by another demon.
Ignoring how short this issue felt, a decent issue nonetheless.
I am interested in seeing how Raven and Solstice relation will develop, considering their conflicting characteristics.

Lizard-Man: “…nice to see demons that AREN’T interested in Raven for once.”
